Noteringar:
2007-08-09 01:12 WS: A delicate and refined red. Fresh aromas of raspberries and minerals follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a delicate, refreshing finish. Best after 2003. 15,000 cases made. –JS
2007-08-09 01:12 WA: The 1999 Pichon Lalande performed inconsistently. This wine is a blend of 47% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot. It offers a complex, evolved bouquet of cedar, underbrush, red currants, and spice box. The dark ruby color is not as saturated as many 1999s, and the wine possesses the weight and style of the 1979 and 1981 (both of which are superior to 1999). There is medium body, excellent ripeness, and an angular finish, without the persistence typically found at this chateau. Anticipated maturity: now-2012.
2007-08-09 01:13 IWC: By Stephen Tanzer Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 02 Medium red. Aromatic nose of redcurrant, plum, tobacco, tar, toast and incense, with a faint weedy component. Silky on entry, then round in the mouth, but with limited sweetness and expansion of flavor. Not especially pliant today despite the relatively high 47% merlot component. Finishes with slightly dry-edged tannins. Not at the same level as the subsequent vintages at Pichon-Lalande. 87 points
