WS: Elegant, with nice berry and tobacco character and hints of vanilla. It?s medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a light finish. The second wine of Haut-Brion. Best after 2005. –JS |

WA: Always one of Bordeaux’s finest second wines, the 2001 Bahans-Haut-Brion exhibits a dark plum/ruby color as well as a sweet nose of cedar, earth, and red and black currants. Medium-bodied, with a supple texture, fine purity, and admirable length, it will drink well for 5-8 years. |

($30-$36) Deep red-ruby. Raspberry, smoke, tobacco and roasted nuts on the nose. Sweet, supple and fairly deep, with nicely integrated acids giving shape to the wine. This has very good breadth and palate presence. Lingering finish features sweet tannins. 89 points |
