IWC: By Stephen Tanzer
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #134, September/October 2007)
(Carrick Pinot Noir Central Otago) ($30) Good medium red. Sappy red berries and rose oil on the enticing nose. Dense, tactile and ripe, with very good breadth and a restrained sweetness. Mouthfilling texture is leavened by mineral lift. Finishes concentrated and long, with a youthfully firm edge (from oak?) but also insinuating fruit and mineral nuances. This winery has been one of New Zealand's most consistently excellent producers of pinot noir in recent years. (Vine Street Imports, Philadelphia, PA) 90(+?) points |
